Worth your time

What Loutro does best

Loutro is a seaside village on the Sfakia coast, between Agia Roumeli and Chora Sfakion, in the bay of Cape Mouri, according to the Municipality of Sfakia. The Greek National Tourism Organisation says there is no road network to Loutro: it is reached by boat from Chora Sfakion or on foot from Anopoli. Among the boats ANENDYK publishes to Loutro are those from Chora Sfakion and from Agia Roumeli, each table with the dates it covers.

  1. Ancient Phoenix

The Municipality of Sfakia says the ancient city of Phoenix, the port of ancient Anopoli, stood here, and that the place was later used as a winter port for the shelter it gives in strong weather.

  2. A name from springs

The municipality explains that the village took its name from springs found there, whose water came from Anopoli.

  3. Beaches by boat or on foot

The national tourism organisation names secluded beaches such as Glyka Nera, Marmara and Agios Pavlos, reached from Loutro and Chora Sfakion.

Good to know

  • The only published transport to Loutro is the ANENDYK boat; the municipality also describes a walk from Anopoli of about an hour.
  • ANENDYK prints the Chora Sfakion–Loutro table in two date ranges in October 2026: read the one for your date.
  • The bus at Chora Sfakion is a separate company's timetable: check both before you set out.
