Scheduled service

KTEL Chania–Rethymno's Chania edition prints Chania–Omalos–Sougia and Sougia–Omalos–Chania every day, and Sougia–Xyloskalo departures. In both rows from Sougia, one departure is printed to leave after the ferry from Agia Roumeli arrives.

  • The marked departure from Sougia is printed to leave after the ferry from Agia Roumeli arrives, not at a fixed time.
  • The road to Sougia passes Omalos, as the row's name shows: Chania–Omalos–Sougia.
  • Ferry times are a separate operator's plan; this page does not print them.

Worth your time

What Sougia does best

Sougia is a small village with a harbour on the south-west coast. The Region of Crete describes the Agia Irini gorge walk as ending a 45-minute walk from the village, and says a craft sails from Sougia's small port once a day, linking it with Chora Sfakion to the east and Paleochora to the west. KTEL Chania–Rethymno's edition valid from 26 September 2026 publishes Chania–Omalos–Sougia every day in both directions.

  1. The end of the Agia Irini gorge

The Region of Crete's description of the Agia Irini gorge ends at a traditional kiosk, a further 45 minutes' walk from the village.

  2. A boat along the coast

The Region of Crete says a craft sails from Sougia once a day, towards Chora Sfakion and towards Paleochora. This page does not print the ferry company's times.

  3. Timed to the ferry

In the bus edition, one departure from Sougia in each row is printed to leave after the ferry from Agia Roumeli arrives.

Good to know

  • According to the Region of Crete, Sougia has tavernas, rooms to rent and small hotels.
  • A departure printed to follow a ferry depends on that boat; keep slack in the day.
  • Confirm the return to Chania before you set out on a gorge walk.
