Crete airport bus planning | Heraklion and Chania

Crete has two main airports, at Heraklion and Chania, on opposite halves of the island. Each is covered by different operators’ publications, so the reliable method is the same in both places: check the current airport connection with the responsible operator, then plan the onward leg separately.

East

Arriving at Heraklion

Heraklion’s airport sits close to the city. Bus connections into the centre and onward intercity coaches are published by separate operators, so treat the airport leg and the onward journey as two plans.

  • Check the current urban itineraries for the airport–centre connection.
  • For onward intercity travel, open the responsible KTEL company’s pages from the city.
  • Leave margin between an arrival and a booked onward coach — the legs are not synchronized.

Arriving at Chania

Chania’s airport lies on the Akrotiri peninsula outside the city. Check the current published connection towards the city, then plan onward western or trunk-corridor travel with KTEL Chania–Rethymno.

  • Confirm the current airport connection before relying on it.
  • Onward intercity journeys west or east are published by KTEL Chania–Rethymno.
  • For a late arrival, check the last published connection of the day in advance.
